BTS has obtained a RIAJ gold certification with a Korean album!
On August 10, the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) revealed the group’s third Korean studio album “Love Yourself: Tear” is now formally licensed gold. It is their first Korean launch to obtain an RIAJ certification.
To be licensed gold by the RIAJ, single and studio albums should file at the least 100,000 items in gross sales. Platinum certification requires at the least 250,000 in album gross sales whereas double platinum certification wants at the least 500,000.
BTS at the moment has a number of RIAJ gold certifications. Their single “Chi, Ase, Namida” and studio album “Face Yourself” is licensed platinum whereas “MIC Drop/DNA/Crystal Snow” is licensed double platinum by the RIAJ.
BTS shall be releasing their repackaged album “Love Yourself: Answer” on August 24. Check out their comeback trailer “Epiphany” here!
